The Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has said he has no immediate plan of returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Obaseki stated this in Abuja on Friday while speaking with State House correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
Obaseki said he was at the State House on a thank-you visit to the President after his victory at last Saturday’s governorship election for Edo State.
The governor had dumped the APC for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after he was disqualified from the party’s gubernatorial primary.
Responding to questions from State House correspondents after meeting with President Buhari, he affirmed that leaving the PDP for the APC would affect not just his integrity but also go against Buhari’s gospel of uprightness.
He also said he would not attempt to replace former the APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, as the new godfather of Edo politics, saying that if he did that, “I should be dealt with accordingly.”
