Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi
Candidate of the Labour Party in last Saturday’s presidential election, Peter Obi, has been declared winner in Edo State.
Obi polled a total of 331,163 in the state, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s state collation officer, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo.
Candidate of All Progressive Congress, Bola Tinubu, came second with 144,471 votes.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had 89,585 votes, while Rabiu Kwakwanso of the NNPP got 2,743.
A total of 603, 894 voters were accredited, while 2,501,081 were registered for the election.
The valid votes were given as 581,266; rejected votes were 19,129, and the total votes cast were 600,395.
The LP won the presidential election in 12 local government areas, which are Igueben, Esan Central, Esan North-East, Egor, Esan South-East, Esan West, Uhunmwonde, Orhionmwon, Ovia South-West, Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha and Ovia North-East.
The APC won in six LGAs, which are Owan West, Owan East, Akoko-Edo, Etsako Central, Etsako West and Etsako East.
