Among the suspects were 13 men and one woman, who are currently under police investigation and will face criminal charges in court upon completion of inquiries. Items recovered included 19 mobile phones, nine vehicles, drums used for initiation rituals, and various charms, highlighting the elaborate preparation of the cult initiation event.

This operation forms part of a broader crackdown on cultism and organised crime in Ogun State, where police have previously arrested over 100 suspected cult members during similar midnight raids and school-based interventions. Nationwide, the Nigeria Police Force has reported more than 1,700 arrests for cultism and related crimes in recent months, reinforcing the government’s commitment to combating youth involvement in cult groups.
Police authorities urge residents to continue reporting suspicious gatherings to help maintain community safety and curb the activities of violent confraternities such as Eiye and Aye in southwestern Nigeria.
