Ogun State Government say it is set to employ additional teaching staff to address the paucity of teachers in some primary, secondary and technical schools across the state.
This was made known by Prof Joseph Odemuyiwa, Special Adviser to the Governor Dapo Abiodun on Technical Education, while monitoring the ongoing Computer-Based Test (CBT) exercise conducted at the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode.
He explained that the motive behind the conduct of the CBT was to ensure that the best brains were selected among the applicants and ensure that prospective candidates for teaching jobs in Ogun schools have ICT knowledge and other needed skills.
He added that the future of the children they would teach was top priority to the state government.
Speaking further, Odemuyiwa said that recruiting more hands was to provide quality teaching and learning for young people, thereby improving education in Ogun schools in line with the global standards.
The special adviser, while commending the state government for attaching great importance to education, said that the recruitment would also reduce unemployment.
He said technical colleges would have the largest percentage of teachers to be employed to improve the teacher-pupil ratio as well as reduce the number of out-of-school children in the state.
