One of the three candidates shortlisted for the position of the vice chancellor of the Lagos State University, Ojo, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has received the backing of the Awori to lead the institution.
Akogun of Oto-Awori Kingdom, Dawodu Avoseh, in a statement on Wednesday, said Olatunji-Bello, a PhD holder in Physiology, was qualified to become the VC having occupied the position in acting capacity for almost two years and having earlier served as a deputy vice chancellor.
He said of the three shortlisted candidates, Olatunji-Bello was the most experienced.
The Awori high chief said the woman is an indigene of Lagos State through her mother, who is from the Abraham Onigbanjo family of Olowoogbowo Area, Ita Kose of Lagos Island.
“Her maternal grandfather Abraham Babatunde was a mechanical engineer with the Nigerian Railways Corporation, while her great grandfather, Abraham Onigbanjo was an auctioneer,” he added.
