Oluomo challenges impeachment, says he remains Ogun assembly speaker
The crisis rocking the Ogun State House of Assembly may be far from being over as the impeached Speaker, Hon. Kunle Oluomo, says that he remains the speaker.
In fact, he said he had approached the court to challenge his impeachment by the state lawmakers.
Oluomo representing Ifo State Constituency 1 was sacked from office on Tuesday, January 23, by 18 lawmakers over alleged gross misconduct.
Hon. Oludaisi Elemide was elected as the new Speaker to replace Oluomo.
But Oluomo, who spoke on the impeachment, declared that the action of the 18 lawmakers was “unconstitutional, null, void and of no effect whatsoever.”
Oluomo addressed the press in his Legislative Quarters residence, Ibara GRA Abeokuta on Friday.
He said that he had approached the court for adjudication on the matter.
