Oluomo elected NURTW national president, Agbede VP
The National Union of Road Transport Union, NURTW, in the South-West has elected Alhaji Musliu Akinsanya, popularly called MC Oluomo as the its National President.
He emerged president during the union’s Quadrennial Delegate Conference at its Zonal Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State, delegates from the four states, including Lagos, Ogun, Ondo and Ekiti participated in the election.
Acting National President of the union, Aliyu Issa-Ore, who monitored the delegate conference, noted that the its constitution provided that the zone whose turn it is to produce the president, will elect and present such person to the National Secretariat.
Ore, represented by the Head of Finance, National Headquarters, Abuja, Mrs Adedamola Salam, said the South-West zone had fully complied with the constitution in electing Oluomo as the president.
The delegate also elected Tajudeen Agbede as its Vice President, South-West and Akeem Adeosun, as trustee from the zone.
Oluomo, after taking oath of office, urged every member to allow peace to reign reiterating his commitment to unity in the union.
“I have forgiven everyone that offended me and I wish those I offend would forgive me as well.
“This is our union and we must be committed to its preservation. We will not allow anyone to destroy our means of livelihood,” he said.
