Ondo gov’s chief of protocol dies in auto crash

The Chief of Protocol to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state, Mr Tosin Ogunbodede, has reportedly died along with his driver.

The duo were said to have been involved in an auto accident along Ilesha Road from where they were rushed to the Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa where they later died.

Another occupant of the car is said to be in critical condition but the identity of the person is yet to be known.

Ogunbodede, a lawyer and former staff of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, was appointed as Chief of Protocol, COP, by Ondo Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on assumption of office in 2017.

The remains of Ogunnodebe would arrive in Owo, his hometown, today for commencement of preparations for his burial without further delay.

Ondo Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, who stated this in a press statement, said late Ogunbodede discharged his assigned duties with utmost attention and responsibility.

Ojogo described Ogunbodede as a very loyal political lieutenant of Governor Akeredolu.

The statement said, “For Governor Akeredolu, this is a personal loss. It becomes more emotional when it’s recalled that the loyal and dedicated Tosin stopped by at the Governor’s Law Hub, Ibadan, to greet his Principal while returning to Akure from his uncle’s residence.

“Even with a heavy heart, Governor Akeredolu enjoins all to take solace in the fact of God’s infallibility-He Giveth and Taketh. This is just as he expresses the heartfelt condolence of his immediate family, Government and the good people of Ondo State to the wife, children as well as the family of his late CoP.

“The Ondo State Government shall unveil burial plans after due consultations with the family of the deceased.”

Two weeks ago, the governor lost his Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Prof. Bayonile Ademodi, who died at the OAU Teaching Hospital Ile Ife as a result of complications from surgical operations.
