Nigerians paying for new passports through  Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) portal have been counting their losses since the online payment platform for applications developed technical difficulties.

The statement assured the public seamless service will be restored soon.

But many decried the system, and wondered why it is taking long to be resolved.

Lagos-based fintech analyst, Epa Stevens, said platforms like Interswitch and Remita have supported on Treasury Single Account (TSA).

“However, with NIS transition to a new payment platform, we’ve witnessed a breakdown. This disrupts services and raises concerns about adequacy of the platform to handle demands of TSA effectively.”

Michael Adigun, said he cannot pay for a new passport.

Obinna Okafor, an importer, who needs to travel to China, said “NIS should provide alternative payment channel’’.
