ONSA tactical team closes in as rescue of abducted Kebbi schoolgirls advances
A major breakthrough is underway in the rescue of students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, as a combined tactical squad deployed by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) closes in on the kidnappers’ hideout.
According to a credible security source, the elite team—drawn from multiple intelligence units and the military—was dispatched by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, immediately after the November 17 abduction, with a mandate to secure the safe rescue of the schoolgirls.
The source revealed that dozens of armed bandits guarding the victims have begun withdrawing in small groups after the tactical squad, leveraging modern warfare technology, intensified pressure on their camp.

The team had deployed a blend of human intelligence (HUMINT) and advanced surveillance technology to pinpoint the exact location of the students. “A reconnaissance unit has already established contact with the girls,” the source confirmed, adding that evacuation to Birnin Kebbi may begin at any moment.
The same ONSA tactical unit recently rescued 38 abducted worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State, and was instrumental in the arrest of key leaders of the Ansaru terror group, affiliated with Al-Qaeda.
Nigeria continues to grapple with recurring school abductions, a trend that resurged after the 2014 Boko Haram kidnapping of the Chibok schoolgirls. Hundreds of students have since been taken by armed groups exploiting the nation’s lightly policed rural corridors for ransom-driven kidnappings, prompting school closures in several states.
