Operation Igbo Danu: Nigerian Army Raids Bandit Hideouts in Kwara Forests

Troops of the Nigerian Army have intensified counter-banditry operations in Kwara State, launching coordinated raids on suspected bandit hideouts in forested areas under Operation Igbo Danu.

The military offensive targeted criminal camps hidden within dense forests believed to serve as safe havens for armed bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements responsible for attacks on communities across parts of Kwara and neighbouring states. The operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the movement and activities of the suspects.

During the raids, soldiers advanced through difficult terrain, overrunning several camps and destroying makeshift shelters used by the criminals. Military sources said the action disrupted the logistics and coordination networks of the bandits, limiting their ability to launch attacks or retreat to known hideouts.

Security patrols have since been reinforced in the affected areas to prevent fleeing suspects from regrouping or using the forests as escape routes. Residents in nearby communities were advised to remain vigilant as troops continue mop-up operations to secure the axis.

The Army described Operation Igbo Danu as part of a broader strategy to flush out criminal elements, restore peace, and safeguard lives and property in Kwara State and adjoining regions. Troops have been placed on sustained alert to maintain pressure on criminal networks operating along forest corridors linking the North-Central and South-West zones.

Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing operations and urged members of the public to volunteer useful intelligence to support efforts aimed at completely clearing the forests of criminal hideouts.
