Orji Kalu defends donning Tinubu-inspired cloth, says it’s Aba-made
Orji Uzor-Kalu, the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District has reacted to outrage by some Nigerians over his decision to wear a Bola Tinubu-inspired cloth to the National Asembly.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today Uzor-Kalu explained that donning such an outfit does not signify sycophancy.
According to him, the fabric was produced and tailored in Aba and he would wear the cloth again at any opportunity.
“Who else would have made that dress other than Aba tailors? It was made in Aba, dyed in Aba and delivered in Aba. It is only Aba people who are hardworking that can do it.
“It’s very fashionable and I will wear it again,” Uzor-Kalu said.

He also stated that at this level of his life and career, he cannot be swayed into being a sycophant.
“Can a man like me be sycophantic? I am not running for anything. Where am I running to? I’m only running to return to the Senate.
“It’s not political sycophancy. I am a man that can’t be sycophantic. It is a uniform for 2027,” he stated.
Further giving details of how he got the cloth, Uzor-Kalu said his house manager made it available on that morning he wore it.
He said he does not see anything wrong with his cloth even though it appears to serve as an election campaign material.
Uzor-Kalu added, “INEC has lifted the ban on the campaign, but we are preparing.”
