Oshiomhole Denies Impropriety in Viral Jet Video
Oshiomhole Disowns Viral Statement, Says Aircraft Video Is AI-Generated
Abuja, February 5, 2026 — Former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North, Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, has distanced himself from a statement circulating on social media that purportedly explains or justifies a trending video clip showing a man and a woman aboard an aircraft.
In a disclaimer issued on Thursday by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Victor Oshioke, the senator categorically denied authoring or authorizing any such statement, describing it as false, misleading, and entirely unauthenticated.
According to the statement, the viral video that sparked the controversy has been assessed by independent experts and is widely adjudged to be artificial intelligence (AI)-generated, further reinforcing claims that the content was deliberately fabricated to mislead the public.
“We wish to clearly and respectfully inform the general public that Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole has not issued any statement whatsoever to explain or offer justification in relation to the trending video clip,” the disclaimer read. “Any statement being attributed to him in that regard did not emanate from him nor receive his authorization.”

The senator also made it clear that he would not succumb to what his office described as blackmail, misinformation, or reputational attacks, regardless of the frequency or intensity of such attempts.
The statement urged bloggers, content creators, public commentators, television hosts, and other media practitioners to exercise professional judgment and restraint, warning that the spread of unverified materials only amplifies falsehoods and misinformation.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Oshiomhole will not, under any circumstance, yield to repeated attempts at blackmail, misinformation, or reputational attacks,” the disclaimer added.
Reaffirming his political focus, the statement emphasized that Senator Oshiomhole remains steadfastly committed to representing the people of Edo North and advocating for the voiceless across Nigeria, stressing that no campaign of disinformation would distract from that lifelong responsibility.
The disclaimer was officially signed by Hon. Victor Oshioke, Chief of Staff to Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, and dated February 5, 2026.
The development comes amid growing concerns over the misuse of AI-generated content in political misinformation and reputational attacks, a trend that continues to pose challenges to public discourse and media integrity in Nigeria.
