Osimhen, other Nigerian stars set to shine in UEFA champions league matchday 4

As UEFA Champions League Matchday 4 kicks off, Nigerian footballers are poised to make a significant impact across Europe’s elite competition, with Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen leading the charge for Turkish champions Galatasaray.

Osimhen, who has scored three goals in two Champions League appearances this season, will be the focal point of Galatasaray’s attack when they face Ajax Amsterdam at the Johan Cruyff Arena tomorrow night. After a rocky start with a 5–1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt, Galatasaray rebounded with a 1–0 win over Liverpool and a 3–1 victory against Bodø/Glimt — both inspired by Osimhen’s clinical finishing and creative play.

Despite early-season setbacks due to injury and transfer speculation, Osimhen has rediscovered his form, netting six goals in ten matches across all competitions. A win in Amsterdam could edge Galatasaray closer to securing a spot in the knockout rounds.

Nigerian Contingent Across Europe

Tonight at the Fortuna Arena in Prague, Slavia Prague’s Igho Ogbu and David Moses will face a formidable Arsenal side that has maintained a perfect record in the group stage, scoring eight goals without conceding. Slavia Prague, still searching for their first win, will rely on their Nigerian duo to challenge Mikel Arteta’s high-flying Gunners.

Elsewhere, Bruno Onyemaechi’s Olympiacos take on PSV Eindhoven, while Raphael Onyedika is expected to return to Club Brugge’s midfield when they host Barcelona tomorrow. Brugge will be looking to bounce back from a 4–0 defeat to Bayern Munich, but face a Barcelona side in strong form following consecutive Champions League wins and a 3–1 La Liga victory over Elche.

Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta will clash with Olympique Marseille, and George Ilenikhena’s Monaco travel to Norway for a tough encounter against Bodø/Glimt. In Portugal, Nathan Tella and Bayer Leverkusen aim to recover from a 3–0 loss to Bayern Munich as they face Jose Mourinho’s Benfica.

With Nigerian players spread across key fixtures, Matchday 4 promises high drama and thrilling performances. All eyes will be on Victor Osimhen, whose resurgence has fueled Galatasaray’s European ambitions and reignited hopes of a deep run in the tournament.
