Osimhen says he is worth more than €100m

Victor Osimhen claims he is worth more than €100 million and believes there are only a few players like him at the moment in football.

The Napoli striker, who recently joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan, continues to make headlines with his on-field achievements.

He was one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe during the last summer window, with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Liverpool among the clubs interested.

Chelsea and PSG were close to signing the Super Eagles striker in the final hours of the transfer window, but the deal fell through due to his €130 million release clause, forcing a loan move to Turkey.

On Monday, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano told Caught Offside that the Blues were planning a £40 million January bid for the 25-year-old.

Despite the Italians’ explanation that no conversations are presently underway, despite speculations of behind-the-scenes preparations at Stamford Bridge, some fans deemed the projected £40 million price tag ludicrous for the current Africa Player of the Year.

Against this backdrop, the player made the remark while commenting on his valuation following the complications in the previous transfer market caused by Napoli’s termination clause, claiming he was worth more than €100 million.

“I am worth more than €100m. There are few players like me in the world who have achieved the same results and success as me,” Osimhen said, per Tutto Sport.

He added, “Everything is linked to my characteristics, the things I do on the pitch, and my quality. I think I deserve a high valuation. I am aware of the contribution I can give to a team. Do people think differently? Some say €15m, others say 100-120-150. Everyone has different opinions.”

Osimhen has made a strong start in Turkey, scoring twice in a 3-3 draw against Kasımpaşa. He currently has two goals and four assists in four games.

Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in the summer of 2020 for a club record fee of €70 million, plus an additional €10 million in bonuses.

He was in excellent form with the Parthenopeans for two seasons, leading them to their first Scudetto title in almost three decades in 2022/23, hitting 26 league goals and winning the Serie A top scorer award.
