Osogbo Indigenes Demand 2026 Governorship Slot, Reject Deputy Roles — Adeagbo Suraj Ademola

Osogbo-born businessman and community advocate, Comrade Adeagbo Suraj Ademola, has declared that the people of Osogbo will no longer settle for the positions of Deputy Governor or Secretary to the State Government, insisting that the city deserves the Osun State Governorship in 2026.

In a statement released on Monday, December 1, 2025, Adeagbo noted that despite being the administrative capital and political backbone of Osun State, no Osogbo indigene has ever served as Governor since the state was created on August 27, 1991. He argued that this long-standing exclusion contradicts the city’s massive contributions to the state’s development and its growing political influence.

Highlighting Osogbo’s significant electoral relevance, Adeagbo stated that the city accounts for 15% of registered voters in the state—an advantage he believes must shape the selection of the next governor.

He stressed that Osogbo “will not accept another Deputy Governorship or SSG slot in the forthcoming election,” calling on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone its 2026 governorship ticket to Osogbo. Failure to do so, he warned, may push the community to support any party willing to guarantee an Osogbo governorship ticket by 2030.

Adeagbo appealed directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC national leadership, urging them to consider competent Osogbo-born technocrats and politicians with proven records of loyalty, integrity, and administrative capacity.

He concluded that zoning the 2026 Osun governorship ticket to Osogbo would promote fairness, equity, and inclusion, while also securing a stronger electoral advantage for the APC in both the governorship and presidential polls.
