Osun monarch denies inciting public against Gov Adeleke

The Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Rasheed Olabomi on Sunday denied claims that he was inciting public against Governor Ademola Adeleke and his cabinet over his approval of new Chieftancy Law for his community.

Oba Olabomi noted that his only plea to Adeleke to rescind his approval of the new Chieftaincy Law for the town was misconstrued by mischief makers.

The Nation reports that Adeleke approved new Chieftaincy Law which included Lagbua Ruling House among royal families, hence, Oba Olabomi kicked against it noting that the decision may cause a crisis in his domain.

The monarch addressing newsmen in his palace in Sunday noted that his protest against the decision of Adeleke was not inciteful but to express his displeasure which is supported by democracy.

According to him, “I have very high regards for His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, and the State Executive Council. Hence, I could not have contemplated disrespecting the constituted authority.

“I have very close relationship with many members of the State Executive Council, and I have never failed to give them high regards. For the past seventeen years that I have been enthroned, I have been committed to the pursuit and maintenance of peace in my domain as well as in other parts of the State. I can therefore, never incite members of the public against the Executive Governor of my State nor his cabinet members.“

He disclosed that he met Adeleke on January 28th 2024 in Iragbiji and even weeks ago at Airport where he accorded him best of regard.

“I like to, again, passionately appeal to Adeleke and the State Executive Council, to kindly reconsider their stand on the Aragbiji Chieftaincy,” he ended.
