Outrage in Kano as Gov Yusuf Vows Death Sentence for Chiranci Family Killers

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reiterated his administration’s resolve to ensure swift justice for the brutal killing of a woman and her six children in the Chiranci Dorayi area of Kano metropolis, vowing that anyone found guilty will face the death penalty in line with the law.

The governor made the pledge during a condolence visit to the bereaved family, describing the incident as a heinous and barbaric crime that has no place in Kano State. He directed security agencies and the Ministry of Justice to fast-track investigations and prosecution, assuring residents that the government would not shield perpetrators of violent crimes.

Governor Yusuf also announced a comprehensive support package for the surviving father, including plans for a new house, social support, and long-term welfare assistance to help him rebuild his life. He commended the Nigeria Police Force, the DSS, and other security agencies for the prompt arrest of suspects, stressing that justice must be both speedy and transparent.

The killings sparked widespread outrage across Kano and beyond, renewing debates on capital punishment, community safety, and the need for stronger deterrence against violent crimes. Traditional and religious leaders, including the Emir of Kano, have backed the governor’s stance, urging strict enforcement of the law to prevent similar tragedies.

As investigations continue, the Kano State Government insists it will pursue the case to its logical conclusion, reinforcing its message that crime will not go unpunished under the current administration.
