•Governor appoints new Akirun, nine other monarchs

Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has released N377.1million for the payment of fourth round of gratuity to primary school pensioners.

A statement yesterday by the Head of Service, Dr. Festus Oyebade, said the released funds would be used to settle outstanding gratuities of 1,887 retired primary school workers.

He said the disbursement would begin tomorrow (today).

Oyebade said the names of beneficiaries would be pasted on the notice boards of the Local Government Pensions Bureau and  Ministry of Information and Civic Engagement.

He restated the commitment of the Oyetola administration to the welfare and well-being of serving and retired workers.

After 20 months, Governor Oyetola has appointed Prince Yinusa Akadiri of Oba-Ara Ruling House as the Akinrun of Ikirun.

A statement yesterday by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode, said the decision was reached after the State Executive Council meeting, adding that Akadiri’s emergence followed majority votes in his favour at a meeting of Ikirun kingmakers on November 19, 2021, where he polled six out of seven votes, beating 17 other candidates.

Egbemode also made known the appointment of nine other monarchs across the state, including the Alabere of Abere, Prince Adefemi Adelakin.

She said Prince Adekoyejo Oyebamiji was announced as the new Oluwoye of Iwoye in Egbedore Local Government, following a unanimous decision in his favour by the kingmakers of Iwoye in a meeting held on October 18, 2022.

“Prince Ademiju Adifagberu was announced as the Arogbo of Irogbo-Ijesa in Atakumosa East Local Government, and Prince Atoyebi Olalekan was named as the Oniworu of Woru in Egbedore Area Council.
