Oyo Police Smash Human Parts Syndicate: 10 Arrested, Heart, Skull Recovered
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected members of a human parts syndicate in a coordinated intelligence-led operation, recovering a suspected human heart, human flesh, pieces of a human skull, and assorted charms. The suspects were arrested at their various hideouts in the Iseyin and Saki areas of Oyo State following several months of sustained intelligence gathering, discreet surveillance, and close monitoring of their activities. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, stating that the intelligence-led operation was carried out by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit.
The police have identified the arrested suspects as Adam Ibrahim, 42; Nasiru Kabiru, 22; Tijani Wasiu, 54; Abiola Nasiru, 45; Amusa Gbadamosi, 57; Raheem Taofeek, 46; Jimoh Muritala, 35; Suleiman Busari, 47; Ganiyu Nurudeen, 36; and Usman Abdullahi, 52. Following the arrests, searches conducted at the suspects’ hideouts led to the recovery of several human parts, including one suspected human heart, human flesh, pieces of human skull, and assorted charms. The recovered items have been secured for forensic examination and further investigation.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their various levels of involvement in dealing in human parts for different ritual purposes, and they are currently assisting investigators in unraveling the circumstances surrounding the source, procurement, and intended use of the recovered human parts. Further investigation revealed the syndicate’s modus operandi, with the suspects using code words to describe body parts—referring to the heart as “tomato,” flesh as “bread,” and hands as “hand fans” (abèbè).
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commended the operatives for their painstaking intelligence-led operation and professionalism, assuring residents that the command remains resolute in its determination to rid the state of criminal elements and protect the sanctity of human life. The commissioner further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly provide the command with credible information that could assist in preventing and detecting criminal activities across the state.
