Updated: Hoodlums attack Plateau community, burn vehicles, destroy houses
Hoodlums on Monday afternoon attacked Bukuru, headquarters of Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State, setting cars on fire and damaging houses.
The incident occurred after an alleged brief altercation between hoodlums and security workers at the wrecked Kugiya Market.
Trouble started at 2pm when security personnel from the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) entered the area to carry out Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s recently signed Executive Order.
It was also gathered that the enraged youths, armed with cutlasses, clubs, and other hazardous weapons, resisted security personnel by resorting to violence, burning cars and stores of innocent individuals.
Garba Tanko, an eyewitness, said the hoodlums destroyed about 10 automobiles near a community grocery during the event.

Recall that Governor Mutfwang signing an order to restrict the unauthorised construction of structures and shops in the state, as well as impose traffic control.
Executive Order No. 003, 2024 was issued in reaction to the indiscriminate erection of buildings and traffic control that has abysmally degenerated under the Greater Jos Master Plan, as well as the state’s high rate of building collapse.
It needed the intervention of a security officer to calm down the situation. Attempts to contact the Plateau State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Alfred Alabo, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this story.
