A lady identified as the wife of Abba Kyari, suspended deputy commissioner of police (DCP), on Monday, slumped at the federal high court in Abuja.
She fainted shortly after the trial judge, Emeka Nwite, adjourned the criminal matter for ruling on the bail application brought by Kyari and his co-defendants.
The woman in a black hijab collapsed to the ground while armed operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) were leading Kyari and others out of the courtroom.
She was immediately rushed into one of the offices on the third floor of the court by some security operatives and lawyers.
She was resuscitated after about 40 minutes.
One of those that accompanied her to court said she is asthmatic.
The NDLEA allowed Kyari to stay with his wife for some time before he was taken away.
Kyari was on March 7, arraigned alongside Sunday J Ubia, Bawa James, Simon Agirigba and John Nuhu who are members of the police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
Others are Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne — two alleged drug traffickers who were arrested at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.
The agency accused them of conspiracy, obstruction and dealing in cocaine worth 17.55 kilogrammes.
