Panic as fire guts University College Hospital Ibadan
Fire has gutted at a section of the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State, leading to immediate evacuation of patients.
The fire broke out in a part of the hospital building on Saturday and this caused panic among the people in the facility.
The UCH Public Relations Officer, Funmi Adetuyibi, confirmed this and was quoted by TheCable as saying, “The fire happened in a room in one of our intensive care units but it did not affect any patients at the ICU.
“The patients have been moved elsewhere. The fire started in the nurses lounge,” he said.
He added, “The fire has been put out. Everywhere is cool and calm and the hospital is running its normal service now.
“I also want to use this medium to inform you that presently, the hospital has a fire station which is under construction.”
