Deputy Inspector of General of Police (DIG), in charge of election, Johnson Kokumo
Passengers of an Abuja-bound commercial bus were on Tuesday kidnapped on Benin-Auchi Road in Edo State.
But the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, said he had not been briefed about the development.
The bus left Benin on Tuesday morning and the driver was said to be heading for Abuja, but hoodlums intercepted it at gunpoint between Ehor and Iruekpen in Edo State, shooting into the air.
The seized passengers were said to have been taken the bush and no word yet from either their abductors or the travellers.
When contacted, the state police command’s spokesman, Nwabuzor, said, “I am not aware of it. Some incidents are not reported and even when they are, because they are from local government divisions, they do not get to us immediately.
“So, give us some time for us to get in touch with the officers and men in the affected area.”
