Pastor stabs wife to death in Anambra
The Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, has initiated an investigation into the suspected murder of Mrs. Ogechukwu Okafor, allegedly committed by her husband, Mr. Elijah Okafor.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred on August 13, 2024, and was brought to the attention of the ministry by the victim’s family, who became suspicious of Mr. Okafor’s actions.
This development was confirmed in a press release by Chidimma Ikeanyionwu, media aide to the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare.
According to the statement, Mr. Elijah Okafor, a pastor from Nimo in Njikoka Local Government Area, allegedly claimed that his wife fell from a four-storey building.

However, the victim’s uncle, Mr. Samuel Onuorah, who led the complaint to the ministry, reported discrepancies in the husband’s account.
Mr. Onuorah revealed that after visiting the mortuary, it was clear that Ogechukwu had not fallen but had been fatally stabbed in the neck and chest. This contradicted the husband’s claim and raised serious concerns about the true nature of her death.
Commissioner Ify Obinabo has called on stakeholders, women’s groups, human rights activists, and social media users to support the state government in seeking justice for the deceased.
She assured that the state government is committed to a thorough investigation of the incident and will keep the state governor informed to ensure justice is served.
The Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare has pledged to conduct a comprehensive probe into the matter.
