The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of rigging the election in favour of the ruling APC in Nassarawa.
They also alleged connivance with security agents to upturn victory of the PDP in the governorship election in the state.
Labaran Maku, director general of the PDP Campaign Council for presidential candidate, Atiku Abukakar, and the state governorship candidate, David Ombugadu, said this in a press conference in Lafia.
He said, “How can you conduct election in two electoral wards just in Lafia, the state capital, and INEC will not be able to computerize results in 48 hours? We are not talking about the entire local government; just two wards of Ciroma and Gayam.
“These are two wards they have continued to use to rig elections in Nasarawa State. Why are they driving journalists and others away while election process in Ciroma and Gayam is being done in darkness?
“Now if you look at election processes in Awe and Kokona the results that were rejected are being brought back by INEC to wipe away the victory of PDP, it’s our conclusion that this election in Nasarawa state is obviously being manipulated.”
Nasarawa State Chairman of the PDP, Francis Orogu, said that his party was worried that about 48 hours after the election, results of two wards (Gayam and Ciroma) were not collated.
He said while he was not allowed into the collation centre with other PDP leaders, the APC chieftains were at the centre deciding the outcome of the poll.
