PDP candidate, brother killed in Kaduna
In a tragic incident, gunmen have killed Raymond Timothy, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) councillorship candidate for Pari Ward in the Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, along with his brother, James Timothy.
The attack occurred on Sunday evening as the two were returning from a political campaign in Kizachi Village, Pari Ward, on a motorcycle.
Raymond Timothy, a father of three, was expecting a fourth child with his pregnant wife at the time of his death. The brutal killings have sent shockwaves through the local community, raising concerns about political violence in the area.
Barnabas Chawai, a prominent PDP member in the local government, revealed that the killings could be politically motivated and called on security agencies to take swift action to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.
“Drastic measures must be implemented to prevent further incidents as the October 19 local government election approaches,” he stated.

He said, “The victim had three children, and his wife was pregnant with their fourth.”
John Wanneh, Secretary to the Village Head of Kizachi, recounted that they were together till around 6 p.m. before parting ways so the victim could return home to Bakin-Kogi.
“It was less than 10 to 15 minutes after we parted that we heard gunshots near some guinea corn farms,” Wanneh said.
He expressed uncertainty over the motive, stating, “We cannot say who committed this crime or if it is politically related.”
Wanneh also appealed to the government to construct a bridge and improve the road for better accessibility during emergencies.
“Security operatives cannot access the village due to the poor road conditions and a river that is impassable, which has been our situation for a long time,” he added.
