The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Northern Elders Unity Forum has issued a scathing rebuke of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, accusing him and his allies of orchestrating efforts to destabilize the party and weaken opposition politics in Nigeria.
In a communique released after its 18th meeting, the Forum expressed unwavering support for the PDP Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Umar Damagum, and condemned attempts by certain party members to derail the upcoming national convention slated for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Speaking on behalf of the Forum, National Secretary Dr. Abbas Sadauki (Dan Madamin Tofa) described the group’s position as unanimous and resolute. “No amount of political intimidation, threats, or lies against the unity of our party will stop the successful organization and conduct of the national convention in Ibadan,” he declared.
Sadauki accused some members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) of colluding with external forces to undermine the party’s cohesion. He described these individuals as “predators unleashed against our collective interest and unity,” warning that their actions would ultimately lead to “political regrets and shame.”

The Forum pointed to Wike’s political influence as a driving force behind the alleged sabotage, claiming his ambition is to dismantle the PDP and any viable opposition through legal and political maneuvers. “There is no reason to allow these ungrateful people, under the guidance of their master, Mr. Nyesom Wike, to succeed in destroying our party,” Sadauki stated.
Reaffirming its loyalty to Damagum and other party leaders committed to rebuilding the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections, the Forum praised their efforts as a “sacrifice to make the party stronger and united.”
The group also issued a cautionary appeal to the judiciary and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging vigilance against “political mercenaries” allegedly manipulating institutions to destabilize democratic processes. “They are enemies of progress and a burden to the government,” Sadauki warned.
The Forum concluded by insisting that the PDP National Executive Committee’s (NEC) decision to proceed with the convention remains binding and must be respected by all party members. “Our support for the leadership under Ambassador Damagum is sacrosanct. Every disciplined member must respect the NEC’s decision to protect the party’s unity and progress,” the statement read.
