PDP Urges Federal High Court CJ to Reassign Party Cases Amid Concerns Over Judge Allocation
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised concerns over the assignment of its legal matters within the Federal High Court in Abuja, urging Chief Judge Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho to stop allocating cases involving the party to three specific judges.
In a letter dated November 19, 2025, signed by National Secretary Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, the party questioned why its cases over recent years repeatedly end up before Hon. Justice James Omotosho, Hon. Justice Peter Lifu, and Hon. Justice Abdulmalik.
The PDP noted that despite the Abuja Judicial Division having 12 judges, only these three have presided over its matters, a pattern that has sparked concern among party members. The letter emphasized that justice must not only be served but be seen to be impartial, adding that members have labeled the courts overseen by these judges as “courts of particular concern” regarding PDP-related matters.

The letter reads: “Even though there are other judges numbering up to nine in the Abuja Judicial Division, several of our party members have complained bitterly about this recurring scenario. All these three courts are viewed as courts of particular concern with regard to matters affecting the interests of the Peoples Democratic Party.”
With more politically sensitive cases expected in the coming months, the PDP urged the Federal High Court CJ to ensure that new suits involving the party are no longer assigned to the three named judges.
However, the party clarified that it holds no reservations about the integrity of the judiciary and commended the Federal High Court in Abuja under Justice Tsoho’s leadership for its commitment to fairness and justice.
