As fuel crisis lingers across the country, the Federal Government may have quietly approved ₦185 as the new petrol pump price per litre.
According to a report by The Guardian, the approved pump price was communicated to major marketers in a memo early Thursday.
Already, it stated that fuel stations in Lagos have started adjusting their pump price to the approved ₦185 per litre.
NewsTrends however found out that only major marketers were selling at the official pump price, the independent filling stations fix arbitrary prices ranging from ₦240 to ₦270 in major cities including as Lagos and Abuja.
The newly approved price is coming months after there had been nationwide petrol scarcity, leading to long queues in fuel stations.
Many filling stations had since November last year adjusted fuel prices to meet their operating expenses.
Transport fares have gone up by about 100 per cent for both intra and inter city trips.
Long queues have almost become a permanent feature at many filling stations owned by major marketers anytime they open to sell fuel.
The situation always is chaotic and this extends to the main road causing traffic snala.
The Lagos State Government has just announced the restriction of fuel stations along the state highways to 9am to 4pm daily when selling fuel. This is to reduce the trouble of traffic congestion caused by fuel dispensing.
