Petrol tanker explodes while discharging fuel at Jigawa filling station
The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed a tanker explosion at a filling station in Dutse metropolis on Thursday.
In a statement on Friday, Police Spokesperson SP Shiisu Adam assured that no lives were lost in the incident, which occurred at Shakkato filling station along Kiyawa Road.
“A preliminary investigation revealed that the fire broke out when the tanker was trying to discharge petroleum products from the tanker into an underground tank,” Adam said.

He explained that the flames spread rapidly, overwhelming the filling station operators, who quickly sought help from emergency responders.
“Upon receipt of the report, the team of policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer Dutse (DPO) rushed to the scene to control movement around the area,” the statement added.
Firefighters from Dutse International Airport and the Federal Fire Service in Dutse town were deployed and successfully contained the fire.
