Phoenix gingers Nigeria’s light commercial vehicle market

 

Ashok Leyland’s launch of Phoenix in Lagos is creating excitement in the light commercial vehicle market in Nigeria. The stake is becoming higher as Phoenix is being positioned as a new benchmark for players in the segment.

The unveiling of the new vehicle in Lagos was held recently in conjunction with Ashok Leyland’s exclusive distributor in Nigeria, Stallion Motors.

Head of Africa-International Operation, Ashok Leyland, Mr Sachin Dasharath, described the Phoenix as a vehicle that offers class-leading comfort designed to set a new standard in the commercial vehicle industry.

He said Nigeria as an important African market for Ashok Leyland deserves the best of automobiles.

A statement by Sonu Singh of the Media and Marketing Department at Stallion Motors, quoted Dasharath as saying, “The new range of fully built trucks will sport contemporary design, a new-generation platform and will offer best-in-class efficiency, performance and comfort.

“Reinforcing our brand promise of ‘No Dream too far’, we are offering Phoenix that will provide the best total cost of ownership to our customers.”

He gave the key attributes of Phoenix as vehicle performance, customer profitability and driver comfort.

Dasharath also said Phoenix, packed with superior mileage, load carrying ability, stability and manoeuvrability, helps to run the business with better return on investment.

According to him, the Phoenix offers class-leading comfort that sets the benchmark in the commercial vehicle industry.

The dashboard is said to be ergonomically designed with the controls placed intelligently.

The vehicle comes with multi-angle adjustable seats.

The steering column comes with tilt-able and telescopic movements, while the 2-point suspended cabin offers comfort and convenience.

Dasharath said, “Our aim in the international markets is to add more products to our portfolio and offer innovative and comprehensive solution to our global customers. Experience a new class of LHD vehicles from Ashok Leyland.”

Managing Director, VON Automobiles, Dr. Harpreet Singh, stressed that the launch of Phoenix light commercial vehicles from Ashok Leyland adds to the range and shows the company’s renewed commitment towards bringing tough dependable and durable vehicles for logistics use in affordable range to the Nigerian customers.

According to him, the company has sales and service outlets in Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan and Port Harcourt and has invested in a state-of-the-art central auto parts and service centre at Orile Lagos to support the distribution of genuine parts across the nation for the upkeep of the vehicles.

He said the vehicles were assembled locally and best engineered for the road severity in Nigeria and generating employment.
