Plateau Assembly speaker, deputy resign
Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Moses Sule, and his deputy, Fom Gwottaon, have resigned from their positions.
The member representing Pankshin North, Gabriel Dawang of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has been elected as the new speaker.
Timothy Dantong, representing Riyom constituency, emerged the new deputy speaker of Assembly.
The drama started in the morning when Sule presiding over plenary announced his resignation, handing over to his deputy, Gwottson of the Peoples Democratic Party, representing Jos South constituency.
Gwottson, who continued the session, also announced his resignation.
Some candidates of the PDP who stood for the 2023 general elections had earlier been removed by the court.
