Plateau Security: Troops Kill 3 Terrorists, Arrest Fake Soldiers in Jos
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have intensified security operations in Plateau State, killing three suspected terrorists and arresting two individuals accused of impersonating security personnel in separate but coordinated missions.
The operations, carried out in Jos North Local Government Area and Wase Local Government Area, followed distress calls and intelligence reports pointing to ongoing violence and terrorist movement in the areas.
According to Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, troops responded to reports of sporadic gunfire in Dutse Uku, Jos North, at about 11:45 p.m. on Thursday.
During the intervention, soldiers intercepted two suspects dressed in black tactical uniforms who were allegedly involved in arson attacks and the destruction of residential buildings.
“Vigilant troops responding to a distress call on sporadic shooting intercepted and apprehended two individuals masquerading as security operatives,” Oteh said.
“These impostors were caught actively participating in the arson of homes and orchestrating violence within the community.”

The army said the suspects’ arrest debunks allegations that security operatives were behind the unrest in Jos North, revealing instead that criminal elements disguised as military personnel were responsible.
Two civilians injured during the incident were evacuated by troops to a medical facility and are reported to be in stable condition.
In a related operation in Wase LGA, troops on high alert intercepted a group of suspected terrorists moving on motorcycles in Karem community. The soldiers engaged the group, killing three suspects, while others escaped with possible injuries.
Security sources said weapons and motorcycles were recovered from the scene, believed to have been used in recent attacks across nearby communities.
The military attributed the success of the operations to the deployment of additional counter-terrorism troops by the Chief of Army Staff, noting improved response time and operational effectiveness.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to tackling insecurity in Plateau, urging residents to support ongoing efforts by providing timely and credible intelligence.
The latest security operation in Plateau State comes amid renewed concerns over violent attacks and reprisals that have continued to threaten lives and property in the region.
