Police arrest cultists during initiation
The Ogun State Police Command apprehended three suspected Eiye cult confraternity members and rescued one victim during an initiation event at the Malaka Quarters in Owode Egba, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.
These suspects, Olayiwola Akinsanya, Keji Sodipo, and Oluwaseyi Olabamiji, were detained following a police report, and authorities jumped into action to apprehend them.
According to a police source who was there at the incident but was not permitted to speak with the media on Tuesday, a victim, Joshua Obiladem, who was about to be initiated that night, was rescued.
It was said that a knife and charms were recovered from them during their arrest, and they were currently in police custody.

When contacted, Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the state police command, verified the incident and stated that an investigation had commenced and that the remaining members of the cult organisation would face charges.
“On May 26, 2024, at about 17:00 hours, information received by the members of the public was that Malaka Quarters of Owode Egba Township was where some Eiye cult members wanted to initiate some of their new members.
“A team of detectives led by the Owode Egba Divisional Police Officer swung into action where one of the victims identified as Joshua Obiladem was rescued and the following suspects were arrested: Olayiwola Akinsanya, ‘M’, aged 34; Keji Sodipo, ‘M’, aged 25; Oluwaseyi Olabamiji, ‘M’, aged 20; and the following exhibits were rescued from them: one knife and charms.
“The suspects are under interrogation, while efforts are in progress to arrest other suspects at large,” Odutola said.
