Police Arrest Govt Official, Traditional Rulers Over Ebonyi Beheadings

The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested a government official and several traditional rulers in connection with the recent spate of beheadings and ritual killings that have shocked communities across the state.

According to the police, the arrests followed intensive investigations into multiple killings, which authorities say were allegedly linked to ritualistic practices and human sacrifices. The suspects, including the government official and the monarchs, are being interrogated to determine their roles, particularly any involvement in facilitating, protecting, or directing the perpetrators.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Anthonia Adaku Uche‑Anya confirmed that the detainees will face prosecution if evidence establishes criminal culpability, emphasizing that the police are committed to ensuring justice and the rule of law in Ebonyi.

The arrests have sparked mixed reactions across the state. Residents expressed both relief and outrage, calling for a transparent investigation to ensure that all perpetrators of the gruesome killings are held accountable.
