Police arrest key figure linked to #EndBadGovernance protests
The Police have arrested Bashir Hadejia, who allegedly admitted to financing a significant number of young participants in the recent #EndBadGovernance protests across northern states.
In addition to his purported involvement in the demonstrations, Hadejia reportedly confessed to backing the assault on the Jigawa State APC headquarters, as per police reports.
The arrest followed a series of intelligence reports that highlighted Hadejia’s involvement in smuggling substantial caches of weapons and large bars of gold, purportedly stolen from the Central Bank of Libya. His activities extend beyond local borders, with allegations of money laundering and various transnational crimes. Over the weekend, he was apprehended on charges of treason, subversive actions against the government, and other international offenses.

Further accusations suggest Hadejia’s involvement in supporting terrorism and other criminal activities in several northern states, alongside his alleged benefactors.
During his arrest, authorities discovered incriminating evidence of impersonation, including tracking documents of high-profile individuals and an international passport from the Republic of Vanuatu, set to expire on September 14, 2030.
The investigation also uncovered a video showing Hadejia flaunting gold bars imprinted with Gaddafi’s statue, weighing approximately one ton, and believed to be stolen from the Libyan Central Bank.
As the investigation progresses, Hadejia is reportedly cooperating with the authorities, disclosing the identities of his alleged sponsors and associates, including a former director of the Department of State Security Service (DSS).
