Kaduna, Nov. 13 — Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have arrested three suspected child traffickers and rescued 17 children in the Zaria area of the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying the suspects were intercepted on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, following credible intelligence about the suspicious movement of children under the Danmagaji Flyover in Zaria.
According to Hassan, detectives from the Danmagaji Police Division acted swiftly, rescuing 17 minors who were allegedly being prepared for trafficking to Abuja and other parts of the country.
Those arrested in connection with the crime are Musa Shuaibu (21) of Funtua, Katsina State; Sani Mamman (23) of Ingawa, Katsina State; and Mubarak Ismail (20) of Unguwa Uku, Kano State.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to having brought the children from different locations and were in the process of transporting them to Abuja and beyond before their arrest,” Hassan said.
He added that the rescued children, all minors, were in good health and currently under police care as efforts were underway to locate and reunite them with their families.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the operatives for their prompt action, reiterating the Command’s zero tolerance for child trafficking and exploitation.
“The suspects will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted upon completion of investigations,” CP Muhammad assured.
He also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and wary of individuals or groups offering false promises of better opportunities for children in urban areas.
The police further called on residents to report any suspicious movements or persons within their communities to the nearest police station for immediate action.
