Police arrest woman who flogged her aged mother in Anambra
A 50-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly brutalizing her aged mother in Umudunu village, Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.
The Nation gathered that she also poured buckets of water on her while still on the floor.
Confirming the incident, Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga said Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye had directed the transfer of the case to the State CID and handing over of the victim to the Commissioner for Women Affairs for adequate care.

He said, “Men of the Anambra State Police Command Operatives attached to Abagana Division, on 15/7/2023, rescued an aged woman being cruelly treated by another woman at Umudunu village, Abagana.
“The suspect, Ukamaka Udeugbo ‘F’ aged 50 years turned out to be her biological daughter in a video clip that went viral.
“The suspect who flogged the naked aged woman repeatedly and threw buckets of water on her while lying on the floor has been arrested and detained for prosecution.
“The Commissioner of Police Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye has directed the transfer of the case to State CID in the public interest and has authorized that the aged woman be handed to Commissioner for Women Affairs for adequate care by the State Government.
“The suspect is to be arraigned in court at the end of the investigation.”
Reacting, Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo decried increasing cases of abuse in the state, warning offenders to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
She said the victim was undergoing medical examination and treatment in a hospital.
