Police Disrupt Drug Distribution Network in Ibadan, Pursue Fugitive Suspect
IBADAN — The Oyo State Police Command has launched an intensive manhunt for a suspect following the seizure of various quantities of illicit drugs from an apartment in the Olomi area of Ibadan.
According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the operation, carried out on credible intelligence, targeted a hideout along Abanise Street, Academy area, Olomi, believed to have been used by Oluwadamilare Adedayo to stockpile large consignments of illegal substances.
“Operatives of the command have successfully recovered and seized various quantities of suspected illicit drugs from a criminal hideout in Ibadan,” the police statement read.

The police confirmed that Adedayo was absent during the raid, prompting a coordinated manhunt and intensive surveillance to apprehend him on the direct orders of the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna.
“In view of the suspect’s absence at the time of the operation, intensive surveillance and a coordinated manhunt have been launched to apprehend the suspect who is believed to have concealed the exhibits prior to police intervention,” Olayinka said.
The police also commended the strategic partnership and collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in the state, which they described as key to the success of the operation.
The command reiterated its commitment to sustaining efforts against drug-related crimes and protecting public safety in Oyo State, urging residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report criminal activities.
This operation forms part of an ongoing intelligence-led crackdown on illicit drugs, aimed at curbing the proliferation of narcotics and related criminal activities in Ibadan and surrounding areas.
