Kano State Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, on Friday confirmed that reinstated Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, led the Jummah prayers at the Central Mosque.
Gumel maintained that as tradition, the recognized Emir should lead the prayers.
He spoke against the reports earlier that dethroned Emir Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero would lead Juma’at prayer at the Kano central mosque.
There were also speculations that the reinstated Emir, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, would be leading prayers at the same mosque, which had raised fears of potential clashes between supporters of the two leaders.

Recall that the former emir, who was in Abuja, returned to Kano after he was dethroned by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, a development that has created tension in Kano State.
Gumel assured all that robust security measures were in place to ensure that residents could observe their congregational prayers peacefully.
