The Enugu State Police Command has intensified efforts to apprehend the killers of Stephen Aniagbo, Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders’ Association, who was shot dead on Sunday evening in a targeted attack.

According to The Whistler, Aniagbo was attacked around 7 pm on Moses Ogbodo Street in the Topland area of Amechi, Enugu.

He was reportedly ambushed by unknown gunmen operating in a Toyota Corolla. The assailants shot him and fled the scene in his blue Toyota Corolla.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the incident, stating that Aniagbo was rushed to the hospital by officers who responded to the emergency call. However, doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival, and his body has since been deposited in the mortuary.

“A preliminary investigation reveals that the unknown armed hoodlums, operating in a Toyota Corolla car, double-crossed and shot the victim, making away with his blue-coloured Toyota Corolla car,” Ndukwe said. He added that a more in-depth investigation has commenced to trace the criminals and recover the stolen vehicle.
