The police in Imo said that they have gunned down a notorious armed robber who had been on their radar for a long time.
Police Spokesman, CSP Mike Abattam, said that the alleged armed robber known as Bugatti, was traced to a hideout in Nsu in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area where he had been using to terrorise the people of the area.
Abattam said in a statement yesterday that following the information received by the vigilante group of Nsu community, on Friday at about 2:20pm, they sighted him with two of his members in the community.
He said, “The community’s vigilante group which has been working in synergy with the police, immediately alerted the police patrol team within the area and they moved to where the suspect and his gang were hiding in the bush.
“On sighting the security men, they opened fire. And during the gun duel, the gang leader of the group, ‘Bugatti’ was neutralised and his Revolver Pistol recovered to the station, while the other two suspects escaped with bullet wounds.”
