The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Lanre Bankole, has ordered those hawking goods at the long bridge axis of the Lagos- Ibadan Expressway to vacate the area immediately.
Our correspondent reports that about two robbery incidents have been reported at the long bridge in the last 48 hours.
On Wednesday, some gunmen reportedly laid siege and robbed motorists of their valuables.
A statement issued by the police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Thursday in Abeokuta, quoted the CP as saying that the hoodlums were taking advantage of the road construction work going on at Kara end of the long bridge along the expressway to attack innocent road users.

He said the CP had directed the command’s tactical teams to move to the area and compliment the efforts of the divisional policemen in patrolling the area.
“It has also been discovered that some of the hoodlums are pretending to be hawking goods on the bridge during traffic gridlock and using the opportunity to carry out robbery operations.
“To this end, the command is hereby using this medium to warn all those hawking goods on the bridge to quit with immediate effect in order to sanitise the environment and deter the criminals from perpetrating crime on that bridge and anywhere around,” he said.
