Police quiz 2 student leaders over killing of 500-level OAU student
Osun state police command, Wednesday, said two leaders of the student union of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, have been quizzed in connection with the killing of Okolie Arinze, a 500-level Civil Engineering student of the institution.
The spokesperson of the police in the state, Yemisi Opalola, said the police have commenced investigation into the matter, promising that the killers would be fished out.
Students of the university had staged a protest against the mob killing of their colleague who was accused of stealing a mobile phone at Awo Hall and handed over to the student union where he was allegedly tortured and death.

The protesters stormed the Students’ Union Building and shut it down, calling for the immediate proscription of the students union.
The students who are mostly from departments under the Faculty of Technology said they would continue to express their grievances until all parties involved in the killing are held accountable.
The Dean of Students Affairs, Professor I. O. Aransi, appealed to the students to allow peace and free flow of vehicles on campus.
He promised the students that the management will tackle it with utmost concern, adding that the institution is pained with the development.
One of the leaders of the departments in the protest who simply identified himself as Ayanfe demanded that the investigation should be spread to the Central Executive Council, noting that information revealed that the deceased spent nothing less than 12 hours at the students’ union building before he died.
Ayanfe who led the Technology and Engineering Students Association (TESA), insisted that the student union building must remain shut pending the conclusion of the investigation on the matter.
