Police uncover shallow graves of kidnap victims in Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered shallow graves believed to hold the remains of two individuals allegedly killed by a gang of kidnappers in the Ijebu-Igbo area of Ogun State.
The victims, identified as 71-year-old farmer Adekunle Ifelaja and Ogunyemi Femi, were reportedly abducted and later murdered by a criminal group operating in the region.
This revelation came following the apprehension of two suspects, Chukwu Bartholomew and Igwi Monday, part of a seven-member gang accused of these abductions and killings.
Confirming the development, Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the state command, disclosed that the arrests were made shortly after the anti-kidnapping squad engaged and neutralized two suspected kidnappers in a shootout, rescuing multiple victims including Indian nationals.

According to Odutola, during interrogation, the suspects admitted to their involvement in previous kidnappings and led Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu and the anti-kidnapping squad to a forested area in Ijebu-Igbo.
“They confessed to the abductions and killings that have plagued the Ijebu-Igbo area,” Odutola stated. “After demanding ransom from the victims’ families, they proceeded to kill them and bury their bodies in shallow graves within the Ijebu-Igbo forest.”
The suspects are alleged to have targeted their victims, making ransom demands and subsequently executing them despite receiving payments from their families.
The arrests were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating in the region, with investigations ongoing to apprehend additional suspects linked to the syndicate.
