Policeman, 3 others killed in Edo attack
BENIN CITY—FOUR persons, including a policeman, a company driver, an expatriate and another person, attached to a quarry company in Edo State, have been killed, while another policeman is on a danger list at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Benin City, following an attack by suspected kidnappers.
Vanguard gathered that the incident happened on Thursday around Ihievbe-Ogbe popularly called Agor in Owan East Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the policemen were shot while trying to protect the expatriate worker, who was said to be the target of the suspected kidnappers.
A resident in the area who spoke, yesterday attributed the incident partly to the withdrawal of vigilante groups from the roads prior to the recent governorship election in Edo State.

He said the vigilante members who mostly from their areas of operation have been complementing the efforts of the police because of their familiarity with the terrains across the communities in the state.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, yesterday, while confirming the incident said: “Investigation into the incident is ongoing alongside efforts in collaboration with the military to apprehend the suspects is in progress.”
