Portable bags West Africa Icon Award, reveals date for UK musical tour
Nigerian musician, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has been bestowed with the West Africa Icon Award (WAIA).
The honour materials which include a Certificate, a Gold medal and a Plaque, were formally presented to the Zaazu king at his Ilogbo office in Ogun state, by the Director of WAIA, Darlinghtyn Umoru on behalf of three organisations.
While presenting the WAIA before a mammoth crowd on behalf of Elation Communications Limited, Royal International and Elation magazines on Thursday, Umoru, revealed that Portable earned the honour as a result of his commendable contributions and recognizable achievements in Afropop music.

Umoru described Portable as one of special breeds adjudged worthy to be conferred with the prestigious honour.
Although, the Director, who also doubles as a Security Consultant, did not disclose the names of other recipients of the award, he however told reporters that other recipients would be unveiled at Airport Hotel in Lagos on July 29, 2023.
Portable, the Ogun state-based singer, who was full of excitement, in his response thanked the organizers of the award for the honour which he described as one of the best he had received in recent times.
In addition, he also expressed his sincere gratitude to the organizations for accepting to make his own presentation possible before the July 29th date scheduled for the event.
“I will be traveling to the United Kingdom that period for a musical tour,” Portable said.
