President Tinubu mourns death of renowned Islamic Scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi
President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, the esteemed leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood and a renowned Islamic scholar, describing his death as a monumental loss to Nigeria.
The revered cleric died on Thursday, prompting an official statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
President Tinubu noted that Sheikh Bauchi was a respected spiritual guide, whose influence extended far beyond his immediate community. He highlighted the late scholar’s lifelong commitment to peace, piety, and moderation, calling him a “teacher, a father and a voice of reason.”

“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was both a preacher and a notable exegete of the Holy Quran. He was an advocate of peace and piety. His death has created a huge void,” Tinubu said.
The President also recalled Sheikh Bauchi’s moral support and blessings during the 2023 elections, describing him as a “moral compass” who dedicated his life to teaching, preaching, and guiding the Muslim faithful.
Tinubu extended condolences to the cleric’s family, followers, and the broader Muslim community across Nigeria. He urged Nigerians to honour Sheikh Bauchi’s memory by upholding his teachings on peaceful coexistence, devotion to God, and kindness to humanity.
The President reaffirmed that the late scholar’s legacy would continue to inspire generations, even as the nation grapples with the void created by his passing.
