Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has said that Kano State lost over N1billion during the recent hardship protest that took place in the state.

He disclosed this during an on-the-spot assessment visit to Kano State High Court that was vandalised by hoodlums during the nationwide protests.

The Governor was conducted round the court premises by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Haruna Isah Dederi, Chief Registrar of the High Court, Abdullahi Ado Bayero, and other high court judges of the state.

He alleged that during the protest, hired miscreants carted away the corruption charges documents on former governor of the state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who had been facing multiple charges before the state High Court.

“It is very unfortunate that enemies of Kano State hired undesirable elements to vandalise one of the historic public buildings with a mission to avert corruption charges against the ag. National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of the state, Ganduje, his family and aides.”

The Governor called on youths in the state to desist from being used by detractors to engage in violence, rather concentrate in skills acquisitions for a better future, emphasising that the government would not relent in securing the lives and property of people of Kano State.

He assured that judiciary as the last hope of the common man must be protected at all cost, directing the immediate rehabilitation of the building and deployment of adequate security for effective justice delivery.

He commiserated with the state Chief Judge, Dije Abdu Aboki, and the entire judiciary family for the ugly incident, urging them to brace up to cover what was lost in court proceedings for the benefit of the common man.

He commended Kano people for their support and cooperation to his  administration, and prayed for sustenance of peace, stability, prosperity and economic development.
